I am a newly wed young woman (29-30) with RA. I was diagnosed with RA when I was 14 after months and months of pain and tests. It was a very difficult time for my entire family, but I had a smart doctor and support from my family. I’m sure I’ve had this condition since I was born, since as a child, pain would keep me up at nights, but the doctors always said it was “growing pains.” I’ve since had total knee replacement on both of my knees, and live a normal life 90% of the time. I recently married my elementary/jr. high/ high school sweetheart. He’s the only man I ever dated who knew me before I was diagnosed with RA, and the bravest person I know for taking on this challenge with me.
